MoGruPlex
Further development of the analytical approach for modeling mine water rise in complex coal deposits
Controlled rises in mine water levels in underground mines require forward-looking, well-founded, and methodologically sound planning. Effective models form the central basis for this decision-making. The MoGruPlex project serves to further develop the analytical approach developed in the predecessor project “Sensitivity analysis of factors influencing flooding” in order to adapt it to hydraulically more complex composite mines.
By creating a detailed understanding of the flow dynamics in hydraulically connected mines, the project contributes to the use of this forecasting tool for future mine water rises, even for more complex projects, thereby strengthening the long-term planning, evaluation, and control of sustainable mine water management for larger areas.
Project objectives
- User-friendly calculation of forecasts for mine water rise scenarios in interconnected mines
- Creation of program code for flexible adaptation of the analytical model to new applications (mines, deposits)
- Methodological approach to support long-term planning of mine water management strategies
Project duration
The project "MoGruPlex – Further development of the analytical approach for modeling mine water rise in complex coal deposits" will be funded by the RAG Foundation until November 2026. The project reference number is 2024-0090.
